When a fur coat needs cleaning, it is essential that you take your garment to a fur specialist, not a dry cleaner. Fur requires a very special cleaning process that most dry cleaners cannot do.
Even if there is no visible dirt or stains, fur should be cleaned at least once a year. Cleaning can remove dirt particles and chemicals, and involves a glazing procedure that improves the lustre of the fur.
This might seem like a lot of effort, particularly if the coat does not appear dirty, but keep in mind that the coat will last much longer if cared for properly.

Alexis Mabille’s Couture 2011 collection: creatures straight out of La Fontaine’s animal fables. It’s just normal to use fur when your inspiration is nature and the woods, no?
Some strong fur trends can be noticed in this collection: animal print, fur sleeves and strong shoulders. My favorite piece from this collection is definitively the fur dress with the feathers. What’s yours?
Lebanese designer Elie Saab never ceases to amaze me with his feminine and simply gorgeous gowns. His Couture collection, shown in Paris July 6th, is my absolute favorite of the latest Couture shows; I’m a romantic, I always fall for the dresses fit for a fairy tale princess.
The brand’s signature embellishment of beads and cristals added sparkle to the icy blue, champagne and rose-gold shades of the gowns. What I really love is the subtle fur details that were added, keeping the look light and ethereal. In this collection, fur is used to create a pattern on the light, semi-sheer fabric. Designers are experimenting with fur in new ways that have rarely been explored before: we are far away from full-fur coats!
Now, I just need to cross my fingers for my white knight to win the lottery and buy me one of this decadent creations. But I’ll probably end-up printing the pictures and pinning them on my mood wall…

Even though we are all fully absorbed in summer activities, there is no reason why not to get slightly excited about our winter wardrobes, especially if it means wearing fur pieces like these fabulous accessories by Roger Vivier. We are so happy he made a proper comeback a few years back, because since then the brand has delivered nothing but top notch shoes and bags. On that note, my favourite piece of his autumn winter 2011 is definitely the fingerless gloves, perfect for driving around in a vintage Jaguar. Or perhaps a Toyota, which is more likely to be the case.
Not many maids wear fur on the job, but then again, not many maids look as sexy as Ginta Lapina. We love this shoot by Greg Kadel for Vogue Germany, especially the fur skirt featured above. A must have in every fur lovers wardrobe, if you can spare the extra bulk around your hips…

Tom Ford loves to keep us all in suspense… By restricting the guests, and the photographers at his fahsion shows, he manages to keep his collections a secret until HE is ready to release them. For autumn winter 2012, he made us wait until last week, when he released this video lookbook. And guess what? There is tons of fur in the collection! From the looks of things, we can expect quite a lot of goat and fox, but we are very excited to get a closer look!
What a blessing, a friend and I avoided a major car accident and still managed to meet with my fairy godmother to remodel my fur coat! No worries folks, my friend and I made it without a scratch as we … Continue reading
If princess Jasmine went shopping in Paris, she would definitively wear Louis Vuitton head to toe, including the fur caplet. I love the pants as much as the fur. Raspberry and purple is a color combination I need to try before the end of the summer!
